Dual sinks and a vanity area provide the perfect area for maintaining your skincare routine after a day in the sun. The oversized shower with four rain fall shower heads is the show stopper. Use the bluetooth system and botanical products to create a spa like experience. The design really incorporates a seamless indoor-outdoor feel to the villa. As soon as you arrive at Hammock Cove, Antigua you are treated to personalised service in opulent surroundings. You will be given a tour of the resort by your ambassador, who will then be on call via a mobile phone provided to you. They will assist you with any requirements during your stay, from making restaurant reservations, ordering room service to refilling your minibar. Their service is exceptional, attentive but never intrusive. Not only do you have your own plunge pool in the room, but there is a three tiered infinity pool that cascades down to the private white sand beach. They have spectacular views over the secluded bay below. On the beach there sun loungers lining the turquoise water, On The Rocks beach bar where you can order lunch and drinks. The ambassadors will even hand deliver you cocktails when you’re enjoying the floating loungers in the sea. Blissful! If you’re wanting to make the most of the beautiful surroundings and stay active, the resort includes use of all non-motorised water sports. We made use of the paddle boards, kayaks and pedal boats. It’s so great to get out on the water and see more of the beautiful surroundings, including pelicans flying above. There is also a fully equipped gym and Pickleball Court available for your use – it was honestly too hot for me to get involved, but it does look like a fun time.

Wine and Dine

Dining at Hammock cove is not your typical all-inclusive buffet fare (though, I do enjoy a good buffet at times). It’s very much gourmet dining including international favourites and more inventive dishes with a Caribbean twist.

On a morning we would head to Irina’s which has a beautiful patio area with bistro style, for a la carte breakfast. They have the most delicious smoothies and juices, as well as specialty coffee and the most incredible breakfast options you can imagine. You must try an Antiguan breakfast whilst you’re here, the Johnny cakes were my favourite. During the day, we would spend most of our time at the beach, enjoying cocktails and light lunches from On The Rocks. A few times, we decided to spend the afternoon on our veranda and took full advantage of the room service. At dinner we would have a three course meal every evening at The Lighthouse. With it’s wrap-around terrace and contemporary furnishings, the ambiance is perfect. The food was incredible, it’s billed as a gastronomic journey led by Chef Marco and the experience certainly lives up to the hype. Every evening different dishes were offered based on what is locally available, everything was fresh and delicious. It felt like a unique dining experience each evening. On Wednesdays a seven course tasting menu is served with wine pairings. The dishes were indulgent and an excellent use of flavours. You won’t be disappointed.Oysters and Champagne are served on the beach each Thursday. The oysters are fresh and there are a range of sauces available to pair with them. My husband raved about Mama’s sauce, it’s an Antiguan hot sauce. They also offer a rum punch and freshly made ceviche. On Fridays, they have a beach BBQ at lunch with live music from a steel drum band. The ultimate Caribbean vibes with fresh food and good vibes. Hammock Cove really goes above and beyond with its dining experiences.

A special shout out to Nobody Knows Bar. We would head here every evening before dinner, they serve only rum with a huge selection to try. Whether you want a cocktail or on the rocks, they are more than willing to make recommendations. Gabriel, the bartender we had was so wonderful and would always personalise cocktails for me.

The Verdict

The resort is perfectly located to explore Antigua, it’s only a few minutes walk from one of the islands main attractions – Devil’s Bridge. A UNESCO World Heritage site, giving a glimpse into the natural formation of the island’s rugged coastline. The guest experience is of upmost importance at Hammock Cove, Antigua and that really shines through in the personalised service you experience. If you’re looking for a luxury getaway, where you can relax in beautiful tropical surroundings without lifting a finger, then look no further! The villas are spectacular and with only 41 in total, the resort manages to capture a boutique feeling.I highly recommend Hammock Cove, Antigua and I have been non-stop raving about it to my friends and family, I doubt I will stop until I am back there again.
