Sunset Restaurant at Independence Hotel | Review

After a relaxing stay at Independence Hotel, I want to share the details about our visit to Sunset Restaurant their recently opened sea-front restaurant. The restaurant is located on the rocks at the beach, with each table having a view of the beautiful Cambodian coastline. The windows are huge giving an airy and light atmosphere to the space.Views

Located on the pristine beach at the meeting point of vivid blue water and lush tropical forest, the restaurant has a relaxed luxurious vibe. The interior design lends itself to being part of the surrounding nature and each table has incredible views of the small islands in the distance.SihanoukvilleGiven the name, it’s pretty obvious that this location is perfect for enjoying sundowners and taking in the sunset scene.Unfortunately, when we visited the weather wasn’t the greatest – it was super cloudy, meaning we didn’t get to see a clear sunset. However, I can attest that Cambodian sunsets are incredibly beautiful and it’s just another excuse to return here again to enjoy it fully!

Indulge

The menu offers a selection of dishes including traditional Khmer cuisine, utilising the freshest local ingredients. When you’re having dinner by the ocean, you have to indulge in seafood (that’s my rule, at least) so I had the lobster for my main. It was truly delicious and the accompanying sauce really enhanced the flavour of the meal.

For dessert, I simply couldn’t choose so I ordered two options. A green tea creme brûlée which intrigued me and a chocolate dessert which sounded too good not to try.

The Verdict

With a picturesque beachside setting, delicious food and great service, I thoroughly enjoyed dinner at Sunset Restaurant. I also visited during the day to try out some of their cocktails with the relaxing sound of waves in the background and a cool breeze, it was the perfect place to escape the heat and chill out.

If you find yourself in Sihanoukville, don’t hesitate to visit!

Disclaimer: We received a complimentary dinner from Sunset Restaurant. However, as always, all opinions and photography are my own.

I’ll admit this is not how I imagine Cambodia. The food and views look fantastic. I also share your sentiment about indulging in seafood when you are by the ocean. I’m also a fan of ordering two desserts! Haha!

      Hey Melissa,

Haha you’d be surprised how many times I hear that. I guess people picture Angkor Wat when they think of Cambodia. There is a lot of paradise places there too. Gotta indulge in the two desserts, why should we have to choose? ๐Ÿ˜‰

First of all I love the architecture of the restaurant and the clean interiors inside! Very chic and elegant! The view of the pristine azure beauty is so spectacular! The dessert looks so yumm! Though I’m all for trying local cuisines, being a veggie, many a times I’m cut short! On the sea side, I still can’t try out seafood!

      Hi Bhusha,

It’s actually quite easy to try Khmer food if you are vegetarian. It does limit on the seafood front, but there are a lot of other tasty dishes ๐Ÿ™‚

The restaurant looks amazing. I like the interior design a lot. It has a tropical vibe and the choice of colors is perfect. The food selections look scrumptious. I like the lobster dish the most.

I love love seafood too so I would probably pick that lobster dish as well. This restaurant is amazing and definitely my kind of restaurant. A good view, especially of the beach, is something that makes it worthwhile. Plus, the interior is so well done!

I love chasing sunrise and sunsets and I am doing a series on it too.
Since you say that Cambodian sunsets are not to be missed, I am enticed to visit Cambodia. This hotel looks like a great choice. Great pictures.
