Lakeside Luxury: Chateau d’Ouchy Review

Chateau d’Ouchy Review

Nestled on the picturesque shores of Lake Geneva, Chateau d’Ouchy is located on the site of a 12th century fortress.  The Chateau provides a tranquil atmosphere in refined luxury surroundings with spectacular views of the Alps.Chateau D'Ouchy Review

Deluxe Lake Room

We were shown to our room – a Deluxe Lake Room, which as you can imagine by the name offered  unparalleled views across the lake and surrounding mountains.Chateau D'Ouchy ReviewThe room was incredibly spacious, designed with a very elegant yet modern style. The open plan bathroom is a beautiful feature, decorated in relaxing muted tones it really added to the peaceful atmosphere.  Boasting a bath tub, luxury robes and a range of L’Occitane products, it had all of the amenities you could need.

 A Rich History

A beautiful mixture of modern design elements in a historic setting is very much the vibe of this enchanting hotel.Chateau D'Ouchy ReviewWhen entering, you are greeted by a unique glass roofed courtyard which is home to the Lounge Bar – highlighting the grand medieval tower. The only original structure of the Chateau, the Dungeon Tower is now listed as a historical monument. Built in 1177, this part of the hotel outdates Lausanne itself!Chateau D'Ouchy Review

Morning treatsChateau D'Ouchy ReviewBreakfast at Chateau d’Ouchy is included with the room, served in the dining room with amazing lake views, it’s a great start to the day. From fresh coffee to delicious baked goods and yoghurt with a wonderful selection of toppings, you’ll be left feeling energised and ready to explore.Unfortunately, we were unable to eat dinner at the restaurant as it was fully booked – so I would recommend making reservations in advance. We did stop to indulge in a hot chocolate (who can resist?) and it was really good!

The Verdict Chateau D'Ouchy ReviewOuchy is a charming place by the lake, even with the misty weather we really enjoyed walking around the area and taking in the beautiful natural scenery. I must say, the views from Chateau d’Ouchy are really something special –  I would love to return in the summer!

Chateau d’Ouchy is perfectly located to explore the lake area and the city centre is within easy reach.  A beautiful and unique hotel, that provides a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. The rooms offer a real touch of luxury, the perfect place to spend a weekend!Chateau D'Ouchy Review

This place looks fantastic, I’m in love with this chateau already. It doesn’t look a hotel though. It looks like one of those castles and I suppose they treat guests like kings and queens.

I would have loved to see a photo out of your room and the lake. I’m loving the open plan bathroom and the neutral colours. Seems like a great place for a getaway! Shame about dinner being fully booked though! Was there any other places around to grab a bite from?

I love chateaus and castles that have been turned into hotels. The interior looks very soothing and peaceful, as does the lake. I haven’t been to Lake Geneva but hope to visit sometime soon.

That looks like the perfect accommodation for a relaxing weekend getaway! The rustic medieval exterior of the chateau next to the fortress belies what’s inside. It is so luxurious on the inside and even looks very modern! What a beautiful contrast and that landscape surrounding this chateau is unbelievable!

Such a charming property. As mentioned previously, I love the contrast between the old and the more modern. I think it is the perfect combination for a comfortable place to stay. I am going to research it further for cost and cross my fingers that it is in my budget. Thanks for the wonderful review.

The Chateau looks amazing. Perfect for a romantic getaway! I’ve always wanted to visit Switzerland, and Geneva is so easy to get to from where I live (Paris). Only a train journey away. The breakfast looks good and both the interior and the exterior of the Chateau looks so charming! I love it.

Yes! I would love to stay there! I don’t normally stay in luxury 5 star properties except when there’s a beautiful story behind it and this one looks like if only the walls could talk, I’d be listening for hours on end about its history. I think a visit to it during the summer is better, specially if it’s allowed to swim in the lake. :p
