A country retreat.

Ox Pasture Hall is a luxury country house hotel situated in the North Yorkshire Moors. The driveway leading up to the hotel offers you incredible views of this quaint hotel and the surrounding gardens.

The Suite

When we checked in, we were greeted by the friendly staff who showed us through the hotel to our room. We were staying in a luxury suite which was spacious with a lounge area, bedroom and ensuite bathroom.

The decor was very classic, with a rustic charm – I especially appreciated the chandeliers!

However, the highlight of this room was definitely the views! There was nothing but rolling countryside in sight from each window.

Unfortunately, we did have an issue with our room. I was about to have a soak in the huge bath tub when I noticed a fly in the room, I went to open the window to find that it was covered in huge flies – definitely not the relaxing experience I was hoping for! We called reception and they immediately sent somebody up, which is when it was discovered that there was a nest of flies under the window!

Thankfully, we were quickly offered a different suite and three members of staff came to show us to our new room and move our luggage. The new suite was much smaller than the previous, but equally as comfy.

Relax

The suites have all the amenities you need to unwind and de-stress. I particularly liked the waterfall taps in the bathroom and the complimentary toiletries were great quality, if there had been bath robes available it would have been the perfect spa- like experience.

Indulge

We sat in a cosy lounge and enjoyed our drinks whilst we decided what to order for dinner. I can imagine this being such a lovely space during the colder months, with a roaring fire.

The Courtyard Restaurant has a wonderful ambience, exquisite food and great service. The menu offers classic dishes with a modern twist, with ingredients that are sourced locally.

When we were seated at our table there was a bottle of prosecco waiting for us, which was a lovely touch. I had white onion risotto to start, baked cod for my main which was followed by an amuse bouche to cleanse the palette before dessert.

All of the dishes were beautifully plated and tasted delicious! I also enjoyed the view from the restaurant overlooking the courtyard.

Explore

Ox Pasture Hall Hotel is located in the North York Moors National Park and Raincliffe Gate the entrance to a woodland area is located near to the hotel. Also, the hotel is set in 17 acres of pretty gardens and grounds that you can wander around, making this the perfect location for a country walk.

Despite it being a rainy morning, we decided to explore the beautiful surrounding area before heading home.

Scarborough

Scarborough is a typical seaside town, with brightly coloured beach huts, an abundance of fish and chip shops and even a surf school! We took a walk along the seafront and it was quite busy despite the weather, with children playing in the rock pools and people walking their dogs.

Scarborough Castle sits prominently on the cliff and on a clear day, walking to the top of the hill would give you amazing views of the coastline.

The Verdict

This country hotel offers luxurious rooms and great service. Ensconced in the North Yorkshire Moors, this makes it a perfect place for a retreat. The lack of phone signal and wifi means that you can disconnect and relax without any distractions. My suggestion would be to request an upstairs room, the views are incredible and you won’t have any noises from guests above.

The Courtyard Restaurant is widely regarded as one of the best restaurants in the Scarborough area and I can understand why. The food and drink were a highlight of our stay and I would suggest visiting if only to try the restaurant, although I’m sure you would find yourself wanting to stay at this charming hotel for longer.

If you are interested in staying at a luxury hotel in Scarborough, then I would definitely recommend Ox Pasture Hall Hotel.
